UDI Sketch Saturday #56

I have some awesome news to share with everyone today!! I was asked to join another Sketch Challenge Team and this time it is with the Utah Divas International Blog. You all know I LOVE sketches so I am happy to belong to this awesome group of ladies!! Make sure you check out UDI because they have all kinds of great challenges and inspiration everyday!!
Make sure to check out the sketch over at UDI that we were given to work with. I first started with the Bella Bleu DSP, Kraft & Not Quite Navy Cardstock, Kraft Corduroy Buttons, Hemp Twine, Twill Tape, 1 3/4" Circle Punch, the stamp set called Trendy Trees and my Big Shot using the Circles #2 Originals Die.

I have never really used this wider Twill Tape and have alot of it just laying around so I decided to try my hand at using it on this card and I really like how it turned out!!

But I do have to show you my first attempt using this sketch. I do like this card too but the colors are just so bright!! I am not one that uses the Bold Bright Color Family very often but I wanted to use this DSP.

I pulled out Kaleidoscope DSP, Only Orange & Summer Sun Cardstock, Summer Sun Corduroy Buttons, 1 3/4 " Circle Punch, the stamp set called For All You Do and my Big Shot with the Circles #2 Originals Die.

So what do you think of my two tries with this sketch from UDI? Make sure to check out this blog if you have not already and play along with us this week!!! I can't wait to see what you all come up with!!

Have a great day!!

Bloggers Challenge #125-Happy Fall Y'all

The weeks sure do fly by don't they?? It is Friday again and time for another Bloggers Challenge and this week our challenge was about Fall. I really think this season is one of my favorites!!! I love having the windows open and all the beautiful colors you see all around you!!! AND when I think of Fall I always think of our annual trip to the Pumpkin Farm.
These pictures each year are always my favorite to scrapbook too!! These pictures are from 2007 and are at a local Pumpkin Farm called Lark's Farm.
I need to share something with you all first before I get started telling you all I used on this layout. When I first saw this Nouveau Chic DSP in the Stampin' Up! Catalog I instantly said "Yuck". That's right, I had picked something out of this awesome catalog that I just hated. Well since I have 2 Scrapbooking Clubs each month consisting of a total of 20 ladies I really have to showcase all the DSP in the catalog or I will run out of things to show them. So with that I ordered some of the DSP and decided I would give it a try. I am sooooo happy I forced myself to order it because now I just love it as much as the rest of the DSP!!! I have since used it several times on layouts and now I have been using it on cards too. With all this said the lesson I learned is not to judge our DSP by the book!!!LOL!!!!
Along with the Nouveau Chic DSP I used, Basic Black, Sage Shadow, Basic Gray & Apricot Appeal Cardstock, 1" Circle Punch, Sage Shadow 1/4" Grosgrain Ribbon, Basic Black 5/8" Grosgrain Ribbon, the Distressing Tool from the Cutter Kit, Color Spritzer Tool, Apricot Appeal & Sage Shadow Stampin' Write Markers, the stamp set called Autumn Days and my Big Shot with the Circles #2 Originals Die & the Stampin' Up! Alphabet Simple Letters Alphabet Bigz Dies.

I also stamped the bird image in Sage Shadow and then using a Sponge Dauber I added some Basic Gray ink to the bird image, huffed it and stamped on Whisper White Cardstock. Cutting out the bird image I mounted it on the Whisper White Cardstock circle with our Stampin' Dimensionals. I just loved how the bird came out!!!

Make sure you check out the other ladies in this awesome group and see what they came up with using our Fall Theme. Also, make sure to check back tomorrow for another awesome Sketch Challenge from Stamping 411 and some AWESOME news from me!!!

Have a great day!!

Great Gift Idea!!

Stampin' Up! has done it again!!! They make some of the greatest products for all your gift giving during the holiday season. Going along with the Late Night Stampers Challenge #45-Gift Giving Ideas and the Holiday Mini from Stampin' Up! I want to show you a very easy and affordable gift idea that you can make yourself!! These are perfect for a teacher, hairdresser, neighbor and so on. AND the best part is they will LOVE them!!

These calendar blocks are fun and very easy to make and actually take hardly any time at all to finish. First start with a set of the Decor Elements Blocks which come in a set of 4, 116829, for $9.95. You will only need three of them for this project and I will be showing what you can do with the fourth block in the coming days. You will also need the Calendar Kit, 116771, for $7.95. I also used some of the Merry Moments DSP, 115672, for $9.95. It will take less then one sheet from this pack so you will have lots of awesome DSP left over for your holiday cards, scrapbooking or whatever else you want to use it for. I also used the very awesome Old Olive 1 1/4" Striped Grosgrain Ribbon, 115618, for $8.95. Again you will have lots left over of this beautiful ribbon to use on anything you like.
Your Calendar sheets come in 3 1/2" x 3 1/2" and your Decor Elements Blocks are only 3" x 3" so you will first need to trim your Calendar sheets down a 1/2". After trimming them I adhered the months January, April, July and October to one block, February, May, August and November to the second block and finally March, June, September and December to the last block using our Anywhere Glue Stick, 104045, for $3.95, quantity 2. Then I adhered the Merry Moments DSP to the sides of each block and a strip to the left of each month. After they are dry you can gently sand the sides and corners with our Sanding Blocks, 103301, for $3.50, quantity 2. Stack your blocks showcasing the first three months, January, February and March in a row and tie together with the Old Olive 1 1/4" Striped Grosgrain Ribbon.

Who wouldn't love to receive one of these Calendars for Christmas and proudly display it at work or at home?? I know I just might be keeping this one for myself!!

Make sure you hop on over to the Late Night Stampers Yahoo Group and play along this week!! We have been seeing tons of great gift giving ideas and I am sure there will be tons more the rest of this week!!

Have a great day!!

Fancy Frames

I am so far behind!! I have forgotten to show you all some of the things I did for my Hostess Appreciation Day I held back in July!! Will I ever get caught up?? Anyway these are the gifts I made for each of the ladies that RSVP'd and showed up for my Hostess Appreciation Day. I had somewhere around 35 ladies come and everyone loved their handmade gifts!!
First I started with an inexpensive frame I picked up at Wal-Mart and since my Hostess Appreciation Day was back in July when the brand new Catalog and In Colors just came out I wanted to show off all the brand new awesome In Colors. I made each lady one of these frames with their first initial on it and one of my all time favorite quotes we have as a stamp. The quote comes from one of my all time favorite stamp sets called Friends 24-7 and if you look close enough you will see that I also used another stamp from that stamp set that I just LOVE in the background.

These little frames would even make a great Christmas gift too!!

Have a great day!!

Fabric Flowers

Are these not the coolest things ever?? Shelli, Co founder & CEO of Stampin' Up!, wore one of these fabric flowers at Convention this past summer and ever since I have been seeing them everywhere!! While we were at Founder's Circle in September several ladies went to a fabric store and came back with tons of different fabric to try their hand at making these flowers.

These flowers are so much fun to make!!! All you need is some fabric, a Big Shot and the Stampin' Up! Flower Folds Bigz xl Die. And of course thread and a needle. That is all.
Take your favorite fabric with the Flower Folds Die and run it through your Big Shot, layer and sew on your button. Easy peesy!!!

Since being home from Founder's Circle I have made several trips to the different fabric stores we have here in my tiny town and I can't wait to start playing with all our other dies we have for the Big Shot!! As soon as I have some things made up I will be showing them off here on my blog. Until then pull out your Big Shot and see what you can come up with!! Don't have a Big Shot yet?? Just go HERE and have one delivered straight to your house so you can start making things out of fabric!! AND if you purchase the Big Shot right now you will earn a FREE Decor Elements of your choice up to a $16.95 value. Can't beat that deal!!

Have a great day!!

A Beautiful Card For An Awesome Friend

One of my BFF's birthday is the same day as my son, Griffen, so I should never forget her birthday but this year I DID!!!! That weekend was mad crazy and with all the chaos I forgot to call her to wish her a happy birthday. What a terrible friend I am and I really felt bad too!! Anyhoo I apologized, took her out for dinner and made her this beautiful card (if I do say so myself). Again, Kelly, I am sorry!!!
For this card I started with Kraft Cardstock as my base and also used Melon Mambo & Whisper White Cardstock, Whisper White Taffeta Ribbon, 1 3/4" Circle & Eyelet Border Punches, Melon Mambo Stampin' Write Marker, Color Spritzer Tool, Circle Fire Rhinestone Brad, Basic Small Grommet, Distressing Tool, the stamp set called Teeny Tiny Wishes, the background stamp called Medallion and my Big Shot with the Stampin' Up! Finial Press Textured Impressions Embossing Folder.

The Basic Small Grommet works perfect for the center of this Medallion with the Rhinestone Brad.

And I just love the spritzing on this card!!! Too fun!! This card was inspired by another card I saw on Kimberly Van Diepen's Blog. Just love her work and what a great lady she is too!!

I hope you had a great birthday Kelly and next year I promise not to let the day go by without calling you!!! Hey maybe we could have your and Griffen's party together!!! Just a thought!!LOL!!!!

Have a great day!!

Love Beyond Measure

Here is another one for the Late Night Stampers Yahoo Group Challenge #44 this week about Manly Cards and I used a sketch from the Utah Divas International Blog. Love sketches and of course a challenge!! You still have time to join us over at the Late Night Stampers Yahoo Group and play along with this very fun challenge!!

Is this sketch not awesome?? The UDI Blog has a weekly sketch challenge every week too and there is some amazing talent on that blog too!!! Make sure you check them out!!

I have been wanting to play with the Groom Specialty Paper for a while now so I pulled it out and made myself use it!! First thing was what was I going to use with it?? It is soooooo striking all by itself but who wants an all black card?? Then I remembered the stamp set Totally Tool just sitting there in my closet so I pulled it out and instantly I was drawn to the tape measure stamp and thought of silver!! So I decided to pair this awesome specialty paper with our Brushed Silver and using our Silver Encore Pad I colored the tape measure with a Sponge Dauber and then used our Basic Black Stampin' Write Marker for the saying. Too cool!!!! I also pulled out some Silver Brads and Basic Black 5/8" Grosgrain Ribbon to finish off the card.

This card is very striking in real life and I just might give this one to my husband for our Anniversary next week. What to do?? This card or the other card I made for him shown HERE. What do you think??

I hope lots of you will still find time to play with us for this weeks challenge over at Late Night Stampers Yahoo Group!! I always love seeing what everyone comes up with for each of our challenges we hold each week!!
Have a great day!!

Stamping 411-Challenge #124

We have another awesome sketch for you over at the Stamping 411 Blog today and it is a great one!!! Hop on over to see what the other Operators have done with this sketch but first check out what I did!! Then you will need to get busy creating and then upload your creation to the Stamping 411 Blog by Thursday morning, you never know you just might be showcased on our blog!!!

My card actually was the card I made for my son, Griffen, for his birthday last week. Remember this post?? I ended up getting all his decorations and cake in a black skull theme (he wanted scarier the better) so I decided to use this weeks sketch and of course our big skull stamp!!

I started with Basic Black Cardstock for my card, layered on a piece of Whisper White Cardstock and then using our Night & Day Specialty DSP I started layering the pieces on. I even used the printed window sheet with the black polka-dots on it on top of a piece of Whisper White Cardstock. I attached the window sheet to the Whisper White Cardstock using Basic Black Brads. I also used the Star & 3/4" Circle Punches for the eyes (this stamped skull has hearts for the eyes but I thought Griffen would like stars better!!LOL!!!!), Basic Black Mini Library Clips and the stamp set called Just Jawing.

I am not one to decorate the inside of my cards but since this card was made using Basic Black Cardstock I figured I could not write on the inside so you could see it (can you believe I did not have a White uni-ball Signo Gel Pen on hand??).

I used the stars from this stamp set and an under $10 stamp set from the last catalog that is actually on the Dormant List right now. I love these inexpensive single stamps you can now buy from Stampin' Up! Makes it easy and cheaper for you when you just need that right saying without having to purchase a whole stamp set.
Can't wait to see what you all come up with using this sketch!!!
Have a great day!!

Bloggers Challenge #124-Pick A Technique

Another week down and time for another Bloggers Challenge. This week we are to pick any techinque we would like and if you are in one of my many monthly clubs you know by now that I love to distress!! Either by using our Distressing Tools or by crumpling my cardstock, both work for me!! AND I love the Spritzer Tool too!!!!
This card started with Dusty Durango Cardstock, some Dusty Durango Patterns DSP, Natural Hemp Twine, Dusty Durange Stampin' Write Marker, Color Spritzer Tool, Distressing Tool from the Cutter Kit, Jumbo Wheel called Bright Blessings and the stamp set called Falling Leaves.

This is also a new look for me, folding DSP in a line to make it look like fabric. Very cool!!

Make sure you check out all the other ladies in this awesome group!! Just click on my Bloggers Challenge icon on my sidebar for a listing of all the blogs. You never know you just might come across a brand new technique or one that you may have forgotten about!!

Welcome Gifts

Here are some gifts I have made lately for some parties we have been invited to. One was my sister-in-laws 40th birthday party and another was a couple friend of ours who had their 25 year anniversary. I love making these kinds of gifts with our Decor Elements. They are so easy, fast and turn out so nice!!!
This one is our Welcome in white size large. I had bought the metal frame at a craft store. All I had to do was apply the Decor Element to it and added the Whisper White Fleurettes II with Circle Fire Rhinestone Brads. I attached these flowers to the frame with our Crystal Effects. These are not going anywhere with this stuff!!!!

And for my other gift I made.

This one uses the Welcome in Chocolate size medium. I also added some of the flourishes from the Chocolate Flourishes. I just love using this set and cutting pieces from it for different projects. I have already used parts on two other projects and have plenty leftover for more. I added this paper flower I made out of Chocolate Chip & Very Vanilla Cardstock using my Big Shot with the Flower, Daisies #2 Bigz Die and added a Chocolate Chip Corduroy Brad to the center. I also attached this to the frame with Crystal Effects.

I am sure everyone loved their gifts as much as I loved making them for them using our awesome Decor Elements!!
Have a great day!!

My Swap Card

I recently did a Christmas Card Swap with a group I am part of called the Go-Divas. This awesome group of very talented Stampin' Up! Demonstrators is headed by our very own Robin Merriman who happens to be one of my very dearest best friends. I met Robin a year and two months ago at my very first Founder's Circle trip and we instantly hit it off!!! She is an awesome, smart, talented and very sweet lady and I am soooo happy we have become just great friends!! Anyway we do about four different swaps a year with this group and all the swaps I receive are some of the best ever!! Here is my card I did the Christmas Cards Swap.
This card is actually a CASE from Kimberly Van Diepen. Her work is just amazing and I love it!!
I started with Kraft Cardstock as my card base, Holiday Lounge DSP, Ruby Red Cardstock, Whisper White Taffeta Ribbon, Word Window & Modern Label, 1" Circle, 1 1/4" Circle, 1 3/8" Circle & 1 3/4" Circle Punches, VersaMark and the stamp set called Serene Snowflakes.

Here is an attempt at making clouds using Gretchen's tutorial we had over on the Stamping 411 Blog. You can find it HERE. She makes it look so easy that I just had to try it myself. It is alot of fun doing this technique and I think mine turned out pretty good. What do you think??
For this card I used the Flock Together DSP, Tempting Turquoise & Garden Green Cardstock, So Saffron Striped Grosgrain Ribbon, the stamp set called Welcome Home, Stampin' Up! Write Markers, Large Oval Punch and my Big Shot with the Stampin' Up! Lots of Tags Sizzlits 4-pack Dies.

I also love doing the grass technique too!!! Just use a strip of cardstock and start snipping away with your Paper Snips.

Late Night Stampers Challenge #44

This weeks Challenge - if you choose to play - and we so hope you do! Let's Get Masculine!.....ok wait, lets not, lets create something masculine instead (who needs more hair on their chin right?). The Challenge this week is to create a Masculine or guy card. Fathers/brothers/son, I know around here there is always a shortage of cards for those masculine birthdays and special occasions. Create in masculine colors, create using a masculine stamp, convert a stamp into something masculine with color and placement - the world is your oyster my friends, lets see what you come up with. Remember, all items used in your card must be current STAMPIN UP in order to be in the contest.
I hope my card counts for a Masculine/guy card because I actually made it for my husband for our Anniversary which is next week on the 12th. We will be married for 15 years!!!
I started out using the To the Nines Specialty DSP and cut a piece to 5x10. I then scored at the 2.5 & 7.5 to make a gate card. The belly band is 2.5x10. I also used Chocolate Chip, Sage Shadow, Pretty in Pink & Regal Rose Cardstock, the stamp sets called Three Little Words & Season of Friendship, Heart to Heart Punch and my Big Shot with the Clear Circle Bigz Clear Die & Scallop Circle Bigz Die.

Here is a look at the card open.

Make sure you join us over at the Late Night Stampers Yahoo Group and check out what everyone will be coming up with for this awesome challenge!! Remember to join this group it is totally FREE and open to everyone that loves Stampin' Up! and their products!!

Some More Favorite Candy Inspiration

There is still time to join us over at Late Night Stampers Yahoo Group for this fun challenge all about your favorite candy!! Who doesn't love candy?? All you need to do is take your favorite candy bar wrapper and design a candy around the colors you see in the wrapper. It is that easy!!
Here is another card I created using one of my top five favorite candy bars, Baby Ruth. I needed a 25th Anniversary Card yesterday so I decided to let my candy bar lead the way. After I was finished I was happy with my results and of course the candy bar was good too!!!
I started with our Brushed Silver as the card then layered on some Brilliant Blue Cardstock and the Bride Specialty Paper. To finish out the card I used some Whisper White Taffeta Ribbon, On Board Lots of Letters for the "25" and the stamp set called Together Forever.

I just love tearing and distressing this Bride Specialty Paper!! So elegant looking!!!

And I just love stamping on plain chipboard!! So easy and fast!!
I hope lots of you will take some time today and play along with us with this fun challenge!!
Have a great day!!

Bloggers Challenge #123-Theme Halloween

Another week another Bloggers Challenge. This Friday for Bloggers Challenge we had the theme Halloween. This one makes me soooo happy!!! I just LOVE Halloween!! I am not one for going over board decorating our house or dressing up for the holiday but I just love this holiday. I think the number one reason I love it so much is that my son, Griffen, was born on this holiday 10 years ago!!

Is he not the cutest little boy?? I guess he is not so little anymore!!! Boy how time flies, seems just like yesterday we were bringing him home from the hospital!! Anyway Happy Birthday Bud (tomorrow)!!!

Griffen is actually having his birthday party tonight with some of his friends over for a bonfire/sleepover and he wanted me to make his birthday invitations for him. He had requested Dracula invites. Okay I thought easy enough, just google Dracula and go from there. He liked him when I was done but thought his friends might laugh at our Dracula. He knew I had done a Frankenstein last year at this time and said he would just go with him since he looked better.

I decided to share both with you so let me know which one you like better. I really think they both are too darn cute!!!! But then again it is Halloween and we don't want cute do we???LOL!!!!

Both Dracula and Frankie pictured here. I told you they were cute didn't I???

I made Frankie and Mrs Frankie candy boxes last year for Halloween. You can see them HERE. I used Green Galore & Brilliant Blue Cardstock, Round Tab, 1" Circle, 1/2" Circle & My Way Punches, uni-ball Signo Gel Pen, Basic Black Stampin' Write Marker and my Big Shot with the Top Note Bigz Die.

On the backside of Frankie I cut a piece of Whisper White Cardstock and attached it to Frankie. I used the stamp set called Graveyard Gala so I could fill it out with all his information for his birthday party.

For Dracula I used Ballet Blue, Real Red & Basic Black Cardstock, Large Star, 1 1/4", 3/4", 1/2" & 1/4" Circle Punches, Basic Black Stampin' Write Marker and my Big Shot with the Top Note Bigz Die.

I think they both turned out too darn cute!!! Let me know which one you like better and I am sure the boys all liked Frankie but I will find out tonight when they all come over!!

Make sure you check out the other ladies in this awesome group by clicking HERE for a full list of blogs.

Have a great day!!

twick or tweet

Are these not fun?? I think they are the cutest little candy pouches around!! AND they are sooooo easy to make!! All you need is the Big Shot, Petal Card Die, Cardstock and of course your favorite candy and you have a cool little candy pouch to give to all your little trick-or-treaters this weekend!!
These use two different DSP's called Cast-A-Spell & Nouveau Chic, Basic Black, Old Olive & Sage Shadow Cardstock, Old Olive & Sage Shadow 1/4" Grosgrain Ribbon, 1 1/4", 1 3/8" & 1" Circle Punches, Stampin' Pastels, the stamp set called Twick or Tweet and your Big Shot with the Petal Card Bigz Die. I just love using our Big Shot Dies in different ways then how they were intended to be used. This die makes a cute little Petal Card shown HERE but instead I folded the left & right sides in and then folded the bottom side up, secured with some Tombow Multi Purpose Adhesive and then added my belly band around the pouch. Too cute and fun to make!!!!

We made these cute little candy pouches at this months My Crafty SisTAHS group meeting at my house. I always try to come up with a cute fun project to show my downline so they can take it home with them and use at a workshop or gathering.

We only have 2 days until Halloween, are you ready??

Have a great day!!

Late Night Stampers Challenge #43

It is time for another week of Late Night Stampers Yahoo Group Challenges!! This week our Challenge #43 is Candy Everywhere!!
With Halloween right around the corner, and all the stores carrying my favorite candy, my mind seems to be stuck in a permanent sugar high. This week design a card using only the colors found in your favorite candy wrapper. Examples of color combinations would be: Snickers- Chocolate Chip, Whisper White, Night of Navy and Real Red. Reese's: Only Orange, Summer Sun, Chocolate chip. or Twix- Gold, Real Red, Whisper White, and Basic Black. With millions of types of candy available the color choices are endless! Don't forget to use 100% current Stampin' Up! on all projects, we can't wait to see what you come up with!!

So with this Yummy Challenge I pulled out my all time favorite candy, 100 Grand!! Love that candy bar and the only time I get to eat them is at Halloween!!

My candy bar wrapper screamed Real Red, Summer Sun and Chocolate Chip. I started with a Chocolate Chip Card base then layered a piece or Real Red Cardstock and then a Summer Sun piece of Cardstock after I ran it through my Big Shot using the Texture Plates Kit #4. I also distressed the edges of my Summer Sun Cardstock using the Distressing Took from the Cutter Kit. I also used the Real Red 1" Double-Stitched Grosgrain Ribbon and the very cute Gobble, Gobble single stamp that is in the Holiday Mini.

Do you see that my Turkey is colored with the three colors in my card? You are probably wondering how I did that aren't you?? Well I used our Sponge Daubers and started with the Chocolate Chip Classic Ink. I sponged this color onto the body of the Turkey, then going to the Real Red I sponged that color on the base of the feathers and finished off the outer feathers with Summer Sun. After huffing on the stamp I stamped him onto Whisper White Cardstock. He turned out too stinkin' cool!!!

I hope you all LOVE candy and have an all time favorite that you can draw some inspiration from!! I would love to see what you all come up with for this YUMMY Challenge!! Make sure to visit our Yahoo home page found HERE to join in on the fun this week!!

Have a great day!!
